Turkish Film `Weasel` To Hit Netflix

The film Weasel, starring Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan and Kaan Yıldırım, will be available on Netflix on May 7.

The film Weasel, which is focused on the grim, political climate of the 1990s, full of extrajudicial killings and torture, provides the audience with tense moments. The film starts when Ayhan, a young inspector who has resigned, meets with a mysterious man who introduces himself as Karadayı near the lodge where he is staying. Kaan Yıldırım appears as Ayhan in Gelincik, directed by Orçun Benli, and Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan plays Karadayı. Famous names such as Hande Doandemir, Nilperi Şahinkaya, Bülent Emrah Parlak, and İnan Ulaş Torun are accompanying Taylan and Yıldırım, who share the film’s leading roles.

Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan earned the Best Actor Award for his performance in Weasel, which premiered at the 57th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in October. Akis (Reflection), İlker Savaşkurt’s second feature film after his first award-winning film Damat Kogusu (Groom’s Block), will have its world premiere on Friday, May 7 at the 16th Harlem International Film Festival in New York.

After making a name for himself with his first film, Groom’s Block, which received numerous awards, llker Savaşkurt‘s second feature film “Akis” (Reflection) will premiere at the Harlem Film Festival 16. between May 6-9, 2021. Savaşkurt‘s new movie Akis will make its world premiere at the World Cinema section of the festival on Friday, May 7. He won the “Best Foreign Film” award from the same festival in 2017 with his first film, Until May 10, the film can be watched online at the festival’s website.

In Akis, adapted by Savaşkurt from a play written by Mehmet Kala in 2012 and written by Kala again, European actors take part, along with Selçuk Yöntem, Taro Emir Tekin, Yasemin Szawlowski, Ali Süreyya Tuncer, İbrahim Aköz, and Elit Andaç.

Akis, an English-language film in which characters from various nations meet at a hotel representing humanity and has a universal style and theme despite being set in Turkey, creates a passage from the local to the universal with its plot. A quirky receptionist in a hotel in Istanbul welcomes guests as they stumble upon their daily struggles, all to end up in a mix of chaos and dread after the arrival of a mysterious man who declares that he is their patron Saint.

The Production of Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "On Barren Weeds" Continues

The filming of “On Barren Weeds” continues in Erzurum.

The production of Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan‘s new movie “On Barren Weeds” continues in Erzurum. On Barren Weeds, one of the productions supported by the “Eurimages Fund,” to hit theaters in 2022 and premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film got fund (2 million TL) from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and co-producing by Memento Films Production (France), NBC Film (Turkey), Komplizen (Germany), ATMO (Sweden).

Merve Dizdar, Deniz Celiloğlu and Musab Ekinci are in the cast of the highly anticipated production. Following compulsory service in a small village, a young teacher wishes to be appointed to Istanbul. After a long period of waiting, he loses all hope of surviving this bleak existence. His colleague Nuray, on the other hand, assists him in regaining perspective.

Lionsgate has begun to negotiate for a remake of Son Saka, which was released last year.
