Sophie Turner, the ‘Game of Thrones‘ actor is returning to HBO and joins in ‘The Staircase’ criminal thriller based on a true story.
The Game of Thrones star has been cast in the short series The Staircase, which will be available on HBO Max, the company’s streaming service.
The Staircase is based on the true story of novelist Michael Peterson, his huge North Carolina family, and his wife Kathleen Peterson‘s unexplained death. Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson’s adoptive kids, will be played by Turner. Also in 2004, a French documentary titled The Staircase examined the Peterson case.
Turner is best recognized for her performance of Sansa Stark in the HBO series “Game of Thrones”. Turner was nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actress. She is also well-known for her portrayal of Jean Grey in the most recent films of the “X-Men” film franchise, “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”
Sophie Turner joins an all-star cast that includes Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Juliette Binoche, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Parker Posey in the project.
Showrunners Antonio Campos (The Devil All the Time) and Maggie Cohn wrote and executive produced the series (American Crime Story). Campos also will direct six of the eight episodes.. HBO Max and Annapurna Television collaborated on the series.
The docuseries was first released in 2004, with creator Jean-Xavier de Lestrade updating it with fresh facts throughout the years. In 2018, Netflix released it as a 13-episode series.

The platform, which will bring together award-winning films such as Our Great Despair, Pigeon, Taste of Sand and Blue Wave, will also broadcast award-winning domestic films that will be screened in cinemas in the future.

Anna Karenina Adaptation Netflix’s First Russian Drama

Anna Karenina’s contemporary version based on Leo Tolstoy’s famous novel “Anna K”, will be Netflix’s first Russian original drama series.
Anna K., based on Tolstoy’s important work that has been adapted several times, is Netflix‘s first Russian drama series. Anna Karenina will be played by Svetlana Khodchenkova. The series will be directed by Valeriy Fedorovich, Evgeniy Nikishov, Natasha Merkulova, Aleksey Chupov, and Roman Kantor.
The series takes place in modern-day Russia, where socialite Anna Karenina, the wife of the soon-to-be governor of St. Petersburg, falls in love with Vronsky, the heir to an aluminum empire. Their affair gradually spirals out of control, jeopardizing the delicate balance of their familial and social ties.
The location shifts between cosmopolitan Moscow, medieval St. Petersburg, and Russia’s harsh hinterland.
The series will be shot on the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg. It will be available on Netflix worldwide.
The release date is yet to be announced.
Lindsay Lohan To Make a Comeback in a Netflix Romantic Comedy at Christmas
Netflix casts Lindsay Lohan as the lead in an untitled Christmas romantic comedy.
Lindsay Lohan will appear in an untitled Netflix Christmas rom-com. It will be a return to acting for Lohan, the Mean Girls, and The Parent Trap star. She has been absent from front-of-camera assignments in recent years.
According to the logline, Lohan will portray a “newly engaged, privileged hotel heiress” who suffers amnesia following a skiing accident and “finds herself in the care of a gorgeous, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious kid in the days running up to Christmas” in this new film. The rest of the cast is not clear yet.
Jeff Bonnett, Ron Oliver, Janeen Damian, and Michael Damian. wrote the script. Janeen Damian also directs the film.
Variety first reported the casting news regarding Lohan, whose most recent significant work was starring in the MTV reality series Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, which aired for one season in 2018-19.
