Written and directed by Fikret Reyhan, Fractured will be released in Istanbul at the 40th Istanbul Film Festival.
The new movie of writer and director Fikret Reyhan, Fractured, who we know with his first film, Yellow Heat, which received awards in 2017, is making its Istanbul premiere at the Istanbul Film Festival in May. The film, which will be voted by the jury for the Golden Tulip in the festival’s National Film Competition, will be shown in Istanbul for the first time to the general public.
The film’s DOP is Hungarian legend Márton Miklauzic, who won Best Cinematographer at the Istanbul, Lecce, Malatya, and Bosphorus film festivals for his work on Yellow Heat. Ragip Türk is the executive producer, Cansu Eskiocak is the line producer, Serap Aydogan is the first assistant director, Meral Aktan is the art director, Serdar Ongoren is the sound designer, and Jano Fekete is the colorist.
Fractured bases on a faith a migrant worker based in Britain once borrowed a lot of money to send to his family in Turkey from Ayhan, a fellow Turk in the UK. The debt remains unpaid even after Fatih’s return to Turkey. On a trip back home Ayhan visits the family with his brother to ask for his money back. The family who live in the same building on the income from the overlapping business ventures are caught between their fear of God and economic interests. As they seek out ways to repay the debt in full or at least in part, all the family’s buried conflicts slowly bubble to the surface.
