Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which reached at the top of the box office in the United States, outperformed Spirited Away in Japan.

The anime film directed by Haruo Sotozaki, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, passed Japan’s top-grossing Hayao Miyazaki film Spirited Away. According to Box Office USA, the film also overtakes the Mortal Kombat movie, which had the highest-grossing in US cinemas during the COVID-19 epidemic that affected the country, in its second weekend.

Mortal Kombat, adapted from the world-famous fighting game of the same name, earned $66.9 million, trailing the film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which earned a total of $428.4 million.
