74th Cannes Film Festival Dates Announced

The dates of the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held for the 74th time this year with the President of the Jury Spike Lee, announced.

The high-anticipated Cannes Film Festival will be held for the first time in the summer. Accreditations of the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held for the 74th time between July 6-17, have started.

The festival aims to open its doors to young audiences with “Cannes Cinéphiles“, especially with “3 Days in Cannes“. These initiatives, which invited 7 thousand film enthusiasts in 2019, will continue in 2021. Applications for “3 Days in Cannes” will start in early April. It was stated that the applications of the festival accepted in 2020 will be prior.

This year, the festival will focus on environmentalism, such as emissions and waste issues. For this reason, it aims to balance the 89% carbon footprint created by the visitors at the events to be held and to receive an environmental contribution of 20€ per accreditation. Cannes Film Festival is committed to offsetting the other 11% of the carbon emissions generated by the organization by contributing to the environment. The festival also announced that all proceeds will be donated to local, national and international carbon offsetting agencies.

The event will take place with the health measures of France during the festival. More information on these measures will be announced closer to the event.
